LOWOOD LABRADORS

Quality Labrador Retrievers

About our Labradors

We breed only when we want to keep a puppy for ourselves for showing and improving our breeding program. This requires careful selection of the parents for good conformation, wonderful temperament, beauty and intelligence, retrieving drive, good health, and the ever pleasing will to make you happy.

We strive to breed healthy, sound puppies. Parents are OFA tested, receive annual eye clearances, Genetically tested for inherited diseases such as PRA, EIC, HNPK, long coat, and the dilute gene for silver. While we are diligent in our health testing, it is impossible to guarantee any puppy will be completely free from genetic disorders. Also, good nutrition, the correct exercise, and other environmental factors play an important role in helping them grow to be happy, healthy adults.

Our puppies begin going to new families at 10 weeks of age. All prospective families are required to visit our home to see and/or pick up their puppy as we do not ship or sell dogs sight unseen. All of our dogs are sold on AKC Limited Registration with the intention that they will be beloved family companions, hunting or performance dogs, therapy dogs, or a service dog - or a combination. We do not place puppies for show or breeding purposes and all our dogs are sold with spay or neuter contracts.

Our puppies will have had an opportunity to have the following experiences before going to their new homes as part of their socialization:

  • Walking on different surfaces
  • Playing with different types of toys and materials
  • Visiting different environment inside and outside the home
  • Exposure to different challenges that require working through a situation
  • Experience stairs, doorways, crate time, traveling in a car, different sounds and odors
  • Meet new people, both adults and kids

By the time our puppies are ready at 10 weeks to go to their new families, they have been observed and temperament tested.
